TYR SPORT SIGNS 4X OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST DANA VOLLMER

Seal Beach, CA — February 4, 2016 — TYR Sport is proud to announce the signing of 4X Olympic Gold Medalist Dana Vollmer to its roster of sponsored athletes.

At just twelve years old Dana began her quest for Olympic success as the youngest swimmer to compete in the 2000 Olympic trials. In 2004, her dream became a reality when she earned her first Olympic gold medal as a member of the 4x200m free relay in Athens. Making history, she and her teammates swam fast enough to break the seventeen-year-old world record. In 2012 she was at it again, this time winning three gold medals and setting two world records at the London Olympic Games. It was here that Dana became the first woman to ever swim the 100m butterfly in under 56 seconds.

Having become a mother less than a year ago, Dana is more motivated than ever to once again leave her mark on the world’s stage. Taking home the gold in the 100m butterfly at winter nationals, this TYR athlete is a “momma on a mission” and Omaha is where she’s headed.

“It’s all about finding the right fit,” began Vollmer. “Learning to be a mom and getting back in the pool have taught me to trust my instincts. The first race I swam in the TYR suit, I knew it was right for me. Then I met the team of TYR athletes and employees and there was no doubt that I was in the right spot. I’m excited to represent TYR on my journey back to the Olympic stage.”

However, the road to success has been far from easy for team TYR’s newest champion. With her fair share of injuries and a late diagnosis of food allergies, she continues to fight for every medal she earns. Priding herself on an ability to maintain a positive outlook, Dana refuses to let any hardship, large or small, deter her from her ultimate goal. In the past, she has worked with the American Heart Association to raise awareness about heart conditions in both women and children, and she has proudly spoken at events regarding food allergy research & education.

“I speak on behalf of the entire TYR family when I say we are incredibly excited to welcome Dana Vollmer to our roster of sponsored athletes,” said Matt DiLorenzo, Chief Executive Officer of TYR Sport. “She is an inspiration in and out of the pool, and we cannot wait to see her succeed in 2016.”

TYR SPORT RE-SIGNS 4X IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPION CHRISSIE WELLINGTON

Seal Beach, CA — February 1, 2016— TYR Sport is proud to announce the re-signing of 4X IRONMAN World Champion Chrissie Wellington to its roster of brand ambassadors.

Joining the professional circuit in 2007, Chrissie made history when she won her first world championship title in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii that very same year. Taking the triathlon world by storm, the rookie turned champion completed her marathon with the then second fastest time recorded by a woman on the Kona course. With momentum from one of the sport’s greatest upsets, Chrissie continued to write history. Returning to Kona in 2008 she maintained her title as IRONMAN World Champion, setting a new marathon course record of 2:57:44. The following October Wellington earned herself a three-peat, winning in Hawaii with a new course record of 8:54:02.

In 2011, Wellington once again did the unthinkable. Revisiting the Kona course just two weeks after a bike crash, she fought to win her fourth title with torn pectoral and intercostal muscles, severe bruising and road rash. Chrissie finished the race in 8:55:08, just about a minute behind her record-breaking time in 2009. Once the highest ranked woman on Esquire Magazine’s list of “50 Best Athletes Right Now,” Wellington came out above some of the world’s most recognized athletes. In 2012, Chrissie began to promote her autobiography A Life Without Limits.

“I have been a part of the wonderful TYR family since my first world championship win in 2007, and I am delighted to continue to work with them in the coming year. With the birth of our daughter, Esme, my husband and I are thrilled to explore the new direction our life has taken. However, one thing remains the same- our passion for the water. I look forward to getting back in the pool and open water, to flying the TYR flag with pride and to raising my daughter to be a little TYR warrior.”

“Chrissie is the true embodiment of a champion,” began Matt DiLorenzo, Chief Executive Officer of TYR Sport. “We have loved to share in her success as one of the world’s most incredible triathletes, and we look forward to continuing to work with her throughout her career.”

LAUREN PERDUE RETIRES FROM COMPETITIVE SWIMMING

Seal Beach, CA — Oct. 14. 2014 — After a hugely successful career, including an Olympic Gold Medal win, Lauren Perdue has decided to retire from competitive swimming as a result of chronic back and elbow injuries.

Just three months before the 2012 Olympic Trials, Perdue had to undergo surgery for a serious back injury. She still managed to take 4th place in the 200-meter freestyle, which earned her a spot on the 2012 Olympic team. At the London Games, Perdue helped lead her team to a Gold medal finish in the preliminary heats of the 4×200-meter freestyle relay.

Despite her success and perseverance, the 23 year old has experienced persistent back and elbow injuries that have left her unable to compete over the last year. While the athlete had her sights set on Rio 2016, she has decided that the healthiest choice for her body is to officially retire.

“This has been a tough decision, but despite my strong desire to compete, my body has had enough,” Perdue said. “It was an honor to represent the United States of America in the Olympic Games, and I am forever grateful for the opportunities swimming has provided. I will continue to stay involved and give back to the sport in every way possible.”

“It is unfortunate that Lauren Perdue’s promising career was cut short, but TYR fully respects and supports her decision to retire, “ said Matt DiLorenzo, chief executive officer of TYR. “We wish Lauren all the best in her future endeavors, and we look forward to continuing a professional relationship with her. TEAM TYR DOMINATES 2014 IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

New York, NY — April 2nd, 2015 —On Wednesday, April 1st, 2015, TYR Sport debuted its Spring/Summer Collection for some of Manhattan’s most well-known editors, lifestyle bloggers and industry tastemakers.

TYR Active, the first of three lines featured Wednesday, includes everything from tights and tankinis to bikinis and swim shirts. Exceeding the bounds of traditional swimwear, each piece effortlessly transitions from the sea to the sand and the studio. With breathable fabrics, UPF 50+ sun protection and 360 degree range of motion, the Active line is as much designed for running and yoga as it is for swim and paddle boarding.

To prepare for lazy days in the sun, TYR introduced Huntington Beach, an array of vibrant, women’s swimsuits created to ensure both style and comfort. For men, TYR featured a complete line of Boardshorts with a variety of trunk options ranging in length, print and construction.

“Expanding our brand into the world of activewear is an opportunity we’ve been very excited about. We couldn’t be happier with the positive response attendees had toward the new collection,” commented Matt DiLorenzo, chief executive officer of TYR.

In addition to teaming with co-host Christine Bibbo Herr of NYC Pretty, TYR partnered with GlamSquad, Pink Sands, Peligroso Tequila, STIX Mediterranean Grill and Mash Booths to create a truly memorable “Spring Break Event.” From the braid bar and spray tanning station to the coconut cups, the high energy launch left New Yorkers feeling totally prepared for the warm weather ahead.
